To complete the process of becoming a student at the University of Portsmouth, you need to register onto your course. You must register before you arrive here in Portsmouth at the start of term or before your course start date.
STEP 1 – Your computer account
Go to www.port.ac.uk/studentaccount to get your University computer username and password. You wil be asked for your student ID number and your date of birth.
STEP 2 – Apply for your campus card
Go to www.port.ac.uk/campuscardapplication and upload a jpeg passport-sized photo of yourself to create your University campus card. You will need this card to access University buildings and services.
STEP 3 – Register on your course
Go to www.port.ac.uk/register to become a student of the University of Portsmouth. That’s it!
Now you can check your University Google mail for confirmation that you are a Portsmouth studnet. Log in to Google via www.port.ac.uk/students.
We’ll check your ID once you arrive at Portsmouth, so make sure you bring your passport or UK driving licence with photograph. Off-campus students will be requested to email ID to your Department/School.

Make arrangements to pay your tuition fee before you arrive.
You may have arranged a tuition fee loan from the Student Loans Company, you may have a sponsor or you may be paying yourself. If you haven’t already made arrangements to pay your fee, or need advice or guidance on any aspect, do contact us:

Don’t forget to bring proof of identity. You will need this to register on your course.
Bring with you evidence of your course entry qualifications, which you may be asked to produce.
Ouch! Make sure you’ve had your jabs for mumps and meningitis.

Remember to bring your letter with your induction time and place, so you’ll know where you are going on Monday morning.
