Knowledge Exchange Framework

The Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF) is the Government's way of measuring how universities benefit society and the economy through the knowledge they create.

It will show how we turn our research into new ideas, new intellectual property and new companies. In other words, it's a measure of how well we work with society and industry to benefit the world.

The KEF sits alongside the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) and the Research Excellence Framework (REF). Together, they form an assessment of the work we do.

Unveiled in November 2017, the KEF hasn't reported any findings yet. When it does, we'll publish our details here.

We’re busy redesigning our website and this section is still a work-in-progress – but in the meantime, you can download our Knowledge Exchange Strategy to see our plans for the future and discover our research.
