I started my career as a post doctoral research fellow in the School of Biological Science (University of Portsmouth) in 1995. In 2000 I took up the role of lecturer in Biomedical sciences before being promoted to Principal Lecturer in 2005 and deputy Head of the School of Pharmacy & Biomedical Sciences in 2006. In September 2010 I was promoted to the role of Associate Dean (Academic) before taking up my current role in August 2012 as Head of the School of Biological Sciences. During that time I have been very involved in the introduction of the revised academic structures and externally on many course approvals and reviews. I am currently working with the Society of Biology on accreditations visits and an external examiner at the University of Strathclyde and the De Montfort University, Leicester.
