Heather was a Senior Lecturer in the School of Art, Design and Performance before coming to the School of Architecture in 2008. Her first degree was in Fine Art (Sculpture) and she completed a Master of Arts in History of Art & Design in the Modern Period in 1993 (University of Southampton).

Heather teaches across all undergraduate levels in the School of Architecture. At Level 4 she is design studio leader and tutor for Interior Architecture and Design. She is module co-ordinator for History & Theory of the Interior at Level 5 and she is a Dissertation tutor at Level 6. Heather is School of Architecture Representative on the CCi Faculty Education and Student Experience Committee. She is timetable liaison academic, working with the Central Timetabling Unit to facilitate the timetabling of modules and events for the School of Architecture.

Research Interests

Heather is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her pedagogic research is focused on approaches to teaching design history that prioritise visual research, observation and experience and the use of primary research sources to engage students in the 'activity' of historical enquiry.
