Overview of standard visualisers

Visualisers are electronic imaging tools for displaying documents and 3-D objects. They use a live camera that picks up images and displays them via the data projectors.

Wolfvision (VZ-3) visualiser

The main control keys are as follows:

Power

Switches the unit on and off

Tip: Press and hold to turn the unit off.
Tip: The unit will turn off when the arm is lowered, raise the arm or press and hold the POWER key for 4 seconds to turn it back on.

Light

Switches the visualiser light on and off

Tip: Press and hold for two seconds to activate the white balance function.

Freeze key Freezes/unfreezes the image
Zoom Wheel

Allows the size of an object projected on the screen to be adjusted

Tip: The more you turn the zoom wheel, the faster the zooming works

Focus

Switches the auto focus on an off

Tip: The arrow beside the key indicates if the auto focus is switched on

Samsung (SDP900) visualiser

The main control panel has the following buttons:

POWER

Turns the power on or off

Tip: Leave the display surface empty when you turn it on as it may affect the automatic 'colour adjustment' performed as it is powered up

FREEZE Freezes the image
Tip: Useful when repositioning or changing subject matter on the display surface.
AWC AWC Controls the colour automatically
Tip: For best results, only activate with a white surface under the lens
ZOOM Allows the size of an object projected on the screen to be adjusted
TXT/IMG

Controls the sharpness of the output image
TXT: for material with mostly text
IMG: for material with more image than text

ROTATE Allows the image to be rotated
AF Activates an automatic focus
Tip: Be careful not to move the subject matter when using the auto focus
INT/EXT Selects an internal or external image
INT: to view the image on this product
EXT: to view the VGA output from another device such, e.g. PC
LAMP Turns the upper lamp or light box on/off
Tip: Use the upper lamps for documents and other subjects.
Tip: Use the built-in Lightbox to illuminate overheads, x-rays, and slides.
IRIS Controls the brightness of the image by using the iris

Elmo (HV-5600X9) visualiser

 

The main control panel has the following buttons:

LAMP Turns the upper lamp or light box on/off
Tip: Use the upper lamps for documents and other subjects.
Tip: Use the built-in Lightbox to illuminate overheads, x-rays, and slides.
ZOOM Allows the size of an object projected on the screen to be adjusted
Tip: Use [TELE] to zoom in and [WIDE] to zoom out
IRIS Controls the brightness of the image by using the iris
Tip: Use [OPEN] to lighten the image and [CLOSE] to darken the image
Tip: Use [auto/manual] to set the iris to set the iris to adjust automatically
AF Activates an automatic focus
Tip: Be careful not to move the subject matter when using the auto focus
PAUSE Freezes/unfreezes the image
Tip: Useful when repositioning or changing subject matter on the display surface
F.A.M. Frame Accumulate mode. For high definition still image capture
POSI/NEGA Switches the displayed image between negative and positive polarisation
ROTATION Allows the image to be rotated
MAIN/RGB1/RGB2 Input switching
Tip: should be set to MAIN when using visualiser
CONTRAST Advanced contrast adjustment
WHITE BALANCE Advance setting to ensure correct colour projection

Instructions for use

To use the PC

[LOGO] Press [LOGO] on the touch panel to switch the data projector on.

[Projector

Left/Right]

For rooms with multiple screens, please select the screen you would like to project on to by selecting [PROJECTOR LEFT/RIGHT] on the touch panel.
Switch PC on    
Login 

Login with network - using your University computer account details as normal 
OR
Login without network -  check the 'Workstation only' box on the login screen.
Username: standalone
Leave the password field blank.

[PC] Press [PC] on the touch panel to select the PC as the source to be displayed.

 

To use the visualiser

[Power] Lift or lower the arm.
[Visualiser] Press [Visualiser] on the touch panel to select the visualiser as the source to be displayed.

 

To use a laptop

[Projector

Left/Right]

For rooms with multiple screens, select the screen you would like to project on to by using [PROJECTOR LEFT/RIGHT] on the touch panel.
Connect Laptop Plug the available VGA lead into the back of the laptop.
[Laptop] Press [Laptop] on the touch panel as the source to be displayed.
DVI Connect your lead to the input port located to the right of the control panel and select [Laptop] on the touch panel.

 

For DVD playback

[LOGO] Press [LOGO] on the touch panel to switch the data projector on.

[Projector

Left/Right]

For rooms with multiple screens, select the screen you would like to project on to by selecting [PROJECTOR LEFT/RIGHT] on the touch panel.

 

To Turn Off

[System Off] Press [ON/OFF] button on the panel, to turn off the system.

[Projector

Left/Right]

For rooms with multiple screens, please select the screen you would like to project on to by selecting [PROJECTOR LEFT/RIGHT] on the touch panel.
[DVD]

Press [DVD] on the touch panel to select the player as the source to be displayed.  The controls for the DVD player are displayed on the control panel.

 

To Turn Off

 

[System Off] Press [ON/OFF] t the on the panel, and then press [YES]

Instructions for use

To use the PC

[ON/OFF] Press the green [ON/OFF] button on the control panel to switch the data projector on.

[Projector

Left/Right]

Select the screen you would like to project on to by selecting [PROJECTOR LEFT/RIGHT] on the touch panel.

Login without network -  check the 'Workstation only' box on the login screen.

[Visualiser] Press the green [Visualiser] button on the control panel to select the visualiser as the source to be displayed.

 

To use a laptop

[ON/OFF] Press the green [ON/OFF] button on the control panel to switch the data projector on.

[Projector

Left/Right]

Select the screen you would like to project on to by selecting [PROJECTOR LEFT/RIGHT] on the touch panel.
Connect Laptop Plug the available VGA lead into the back of the laptop.
[Laptop] Press the green [Laptop] button on the control panel as the source to be displayed.
[HDMI] To use HDMI, connect your lead to the input port located to the right of the control panel and select the green [Laptop] button on the control panel.

For DVD playback

[BLU-RAY] Press the green [BLU-RAY] button on the control panel to select the player as the source to be displayed. The controls for the BLU-RAY player are displayed on the control panel.

Crestron (MPC-M20) control panel

Instructions for use

To use the PC

[System On]

Press the [System On] button on the control panel to switch the data projector on. Please wait for the button to stop flashing before selecting a source.

Switch PC on  
Login

Login with network - using your University computer account details as normal 
OR
Login without network -  check the 'Workstation only' box on the login screen.
Username: standalone
Leave the password field blank.

[PC] Press the [PC] button on the control panel to select the PC as the source to be displayed.

 

To use the visualiser

Connect laptop Plug the available VGA lead into the laptop.
Switch on visualiser Press the [Standby] button on the visualiser panel.
[Laptop] Press [Laptop] on the control panel. If nothing is diplayed press the [int/ext] button on the visualiser panel.

 

For DVD playback

[System On] Press the [System On] button on the control panel to switch the data projector on. Please wait for the button to stop flashing before selecting a source.
Insert DVD Insert DVD into the player in the rack system.
DVD Press the DVD

[Computer] Press the [Computer] button on the control panel to select the PC as the source to be displayed.

OR
Login without network - to use the PC without the university network, check the Workstation only box on the login screen and log in with username = standalone and leave the password field blank.
[COMP] Press the [COMP] button on the control panel to select the PC as the source to be displayed.

 

To use the visualiser

 

Turn the visualiser on/off using the [Standby] button.When on, the visualiser will override the PC signal.

 

To use a laptop

[Power] Press the [Power] button on the control panel to switch the data projector on.
Connect laptop Plug the available VGA lead into the back of the laptop.
[COMP] Press the [COMP] button on the control panel to select the PC as the source to be displayed.
Switch on visualiser Press [Standby] and use the [INT/EXT] button to display the laptop.

 

For Video/DVD playback

[Power] Press the [Power] button on the control panel to switch the data projector on.
Insert DVD/Video Insert DVD or Video into the combi unit player in the rack system.
[Video] Press the [Video] button on the control panel to select the combi player as the source to be displayed.

 

To turn off

 

When finished, turn the data projector off by pressing [Power] twice on the control panel.
