BSc (Hons) Entertainment Technology alumnus Jack Daly features his latest film The Validation Clinic on video channel Nowness, an online video channel premiering the best in global arts and culture.

The film satirises society's incessant pursuit of approval, with a young woman trying to revive her waning self-esteem by calling a personal affirmation hotline.

Jack says, "This film is a commentary on how much our self-worth and happiness is based on other people's opinion of us, and how our self-confidence can be increased or decreased depending on the social validation we experience in our day-to-day lives."

Discussing the social conditions that inspired this film, he adds, "Although presenting itself in different ways, the need for gratification is a common thread that runs throughout our lives."

The Validation Clinic is the latest addition to Daly's expanding portfolio of irreverent work rooted in sociopolitical commentary. His most notorious piece is a picture he took of himself urinating on Donald Trump's Hollywood Walk of Fame star. You can view that – and other film and photography work – by visiting Jack's portfolio site.
