The African Leadership Magazine has unveiled its Persons of the Year Award winners.

African Leadership Magazine's Persons of the Year Awards are Africa’s premier vote-based endorsement, reserved annually for leading Africans who are making a notable contribution towards promoting the continent's progress and positively altering Africa’s perceived negative image.

The event, which is in its 8th year, and which features 13 different categories, regularly attracts between 300,000 to 700,000 entries and votes across its website, social media platforms and email. The winners were awarded their coveted titles at the awards ceremony earlier this year which took place online due to the pandemic. The event, which attracts a wide spectrum of African policy, diplomatic and business leaders, was focussed around the theme of "Intentional Leadership: Rethinking Development Priorities in Africa".

Dr Ken Giami, publisher, founder and chairman of African Leadership (UK) Limited, said: "Africa depends on businesses and its leaders for sustenance, jobs and wealth creation. At this time when there are widespread disruptions occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic, the role and place of the business community is to not only serve their clients, but also to become strong positive references for society on how to thrive amidst uncertainties. Inspiring hope in people’s ability to aspire to solve more of the problems facing the African people today is more important than ever".

Our winners and all the nominees truly deserve to be recognised for the outstanding work they have done over the last year, and they continue to do for the development of our continent.

African Leadership Magazine at Innovation Connect

Headquartered at Innovation Connect’s Portsmouth Technopole, the African Leadership Magazine has over 1 million subscribers and online followers. The magazine focuses on bringing the best of Africa to a global audience, telling the African story from an African perspective, while evolving solutions to particular challenges being faced by the continent today.

The magazine has been housed at the Innovation Connect Technopole for about 5 years now, primarily because of the excellent support and infrastructure provided by the owners of the facility: the University of Portsmouth. We look forward to more years of robust support and collaboration as most UK businesses position to build back stronger from the COVID era.
