Voyage Care: Supporting people with complex care needs
Voyage Care’s Portsmouth office has been based at the Innovation Connect Technopole site since 2013 and employs eight members of staff. Kathryn Slater, Operations Manager, has worked in social care for 19 years and tells us how the Covid-19 pandemic has changed the daily lives of her team and the people they support.
Kathryn said: “the pandemic has meant that we have enabled the people we support to adjust from their usual community-based activities such as swimming, taking trips to the shops and going to the cinema, to activities that are home-based.
A key part of the support we provide is promoting daily living skills and the development of independence within their home and in the local community.
“The pandemic has affected the daily lives of many, but we have worked hard to ensure that the people we support maintain their usual daily routine. It’s important that we introduce change gradually, so we have plans in place for each individual to support them every step of the way.”
