As a child, Imali Windsor, Head of Design and Marketing at Support on the Spot, wanted to be an Astronaut! “My obsession with space was so strong, I even spoke to NASA Astronauts Tim Peake and Chris Hadfield via video conference”

Homeschooled until the age of 16 she then attended College and studied IT but craved a more creative outlet. Going on to complete an advanced Creative Media course, which combined her creative side with her IT skills she became qualified in Graphic Design and Marketing.

“I loved the course, I learnt a wide variety of skills which have really helped me excel with the diversity of my current position at Support on the Spot. During my time at college, if there‘s one thing I learnt is that you should always take advantage of any opportunity you’re provided – these skills come in useful along the line.”

Working as a freelance graphic designer, at just 19 Imali was headhunted by Tom Carter, Managing Director of Support on the Spot who had spotted Imali’s potential and offered her a job as their in-house Graphic Designer. Based at the Portsmouth Technopole, Support on the Spot provides IT support, design services hosting and hardware to businesses across the UK and internationally.

“This came at the perfect time, and I can honestly I say I’ve never been happier with my work! Nowadays, just about to turn 20, I’m head of the design and marketing team at Support on the Spot, which is a position I’m truly passionate about. I want to always feel like I’m doing something that’s positively contributing the team and really enjoy what I do.

I believe in the quote by Mark Twain, “if you do a job you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.”

My advice to others is: Take every opportunity that you can! Be passionate and organised and don’t be afraid to take chances!

Future plans include visiting New York and enjoying a winter in Sweden.
