Preparing for uni isn't just about preparing for your degree. Developing your thinking and your approach to tasks will help you become a more independent learner and give you focus.

Whilst you're working to keep each other safe by staying home, why not take this opportunity to learn a new skill and self motivate yourself? This will not only be beneficial for you in the future, but it will also help to structure your day and keep you from getting bored.

You can choose a skill you’ve been meaning to learn for ages, something that will help you in your degree/future career or just an interest of yours. To help we've curated a list of free useful online learning resources to inspire you.

Learn a new language

Do you have a dream destination in mind? Or have you always wanted to learn how to speak a certain language? Then now is the time using a free language-learning app or website like Duolingo.

Technology is our future, so why not learn how to code for free? Take free online coding classes with Codeacademy. You never know when this might come handy!

Get business savvy

Are you planning to study a business degree? Or are you interested in starting your own company?

Google Digital Garage has a lot of online training activities to help get you noticed. You can work towards business certificates which look great on your CV and could help you land your dream job.

You can find a tutorial for pretty much every musical instrument on YouTube. Don’t have a spare instrument lying around at home? Download a free virtual instrument app like the GarageBand app and create your masterpiece.

Get creative

Skillshare has a free trial period, where you can learn anything, from interior design to cooking, sewing, crafting and more.

Another great website for this is Highbrow. Select your interest on the site, and they’ll email you a short course every morning.

Get ahead

TED talks are a great way to learn from passionate professionals. They have such a wide variety of talks that you’re sure to find an expert talk on your passion.
