We would like to invite you on the 11th May 2021 10-1230 (BST) to the virtual launch of our new interactive online platform Gender Focus. Gender Focus is dedicated to forging new and extending existing networks between academics and practitioners committed to ending gender inequalities through evidence based solutions.

The website genderfocus.org showcases the work of a number of projects from across the Global South.

Thematic areas include:

WASH and Wellbeing in Ethiopia

• Women, Violence and Displacement in Bangladesh, Myanmar and Nepal

• Women, Work and Violence in Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Zambia

• Art Heritage Resilience and Humanitarianism in South Sudan

• Youth Voices and Violence against Young People in South Sudan

• Mental wellbeing and Climate Change in Ethiopia, Myanmar and Nepal

• Modern Slavery in Bangladesh and India

Gender Focus is designed and intended to be a globally inclusive platform containing up-to-date information from applied research to support effective practice on the ground.

11:30 – 12:10 Hearing from the next generation of genderfocus researchers

A group of PhD students will give summaries of their research followed by a discussion on how to build a network between them.

12:10 – 12:30 GenderFocus moving forward

We invite all participants to discuss how they feel they might use the platform and what else they would like to see on it. How can we ensure it is dynamic and interactive? How can we ensure it will function to promote the work of the next generation of academics and practitioners committed to ending gender inequalities in the Global South?
