Dr Oluwasoye P. Mafimisebi PhD FCMI FRSA FHEA CMBE is an award-winning Associate Professor/Reader in Management, Entrepreneurship, Risk and Resilience and Institute Head of Research Students at the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship, Leicester Castle Business School, De Montfort University. 

He is the Academic Director for the Fintech Innovation Network, Director of PhD programmes in the Department of Management & Entrepreneurship, and Co-founder of African Entrepreneurship Cluster, Centre for Enterprise & Innovation (CEI). Before joining academia, he had held various senior leadership roles in banking/insurance industry and professional practice – Chief Risk Officer, Senior Risk Manager, Risk Manager, Wealth Manager-in-charge of various assignments, and Head of Finance.

Dr Oluwasoye has won multiple awards and was recently awarded Research Oscars. He has published extensively in a range of international academic journals, and recent projects span across risk/crisis management, business continuity, organizational resilience, crisis communication, moral disengagement, entrepreneurship, fintech, strategy and innovation. 

Collectively, his research focuses on Africa management and entrepreneurship from an interdisciplinary perspective. He is currently on the editorial board of Journal of Management & Organization – published by University of Cambridge Press.

Oluwasoye's message to University of Portsmouth graduates:

"My message to you is simple: Write your vision, make it plain, and run with it. Remain visible in your field using social media and take personal responsibility for your career growth. Leverage on the power of networking; don’t be afraid to fail but also learn from failures. Do what you are passionate about but be strategic on how to move forward. Remember, not every move is a move in the right direction."
