This 2-hour online event will provide an introduction to the University of Portsmouth's student placement process

This event has been postponed - date to be confirmed

Students from the Department of Psychology at the University of Portsmouth (UoP) enter many different career areas. For example, teaching, healthcare, marketing and human resources are careers our students often aim for, as well as more psychology-specific careers such as clinical, forensic or health psychology. Throughout their degree, our students develop a fantastic set of skills which are relevant for all of these career areas and in addition, we encourage our students to gain work experience across their degree. Placements form a large part of the students work experience, and are invaluable for our students as they learn career relevant skills and gain some great experiences that they wouldn’t get in the lecture theatre.

So could your business benefit from hiring a placement student?

For placement providers, our students bring many benefits including research and analysis skills (including statistical analysis), report-writing and presentation skills, subject knowledge, team work experience, project management skills, to name a few. Of course the students also provide an often much needed additional 'pair of hands on deck' too. This is great for the students as they are keen to learn and enthusiastic about getting involved.

During this event, we will provide businesses with an introduction to the Department of Psychology's placement process at the University of Portsmouth, and our module coordinators will present details about each of the 5 placement opportunities we provide for our undergraduate and postgraduate students. We will also be joined by some of our students who have undertaken these placement opportunities, and they will share their experiences. There will be time for questions at the end of the session.

This event will be held via Zoom. Joining instructions will be in your confirmation email and in the reminder sent near the time of the event. Please check your inbox to obtain the link and keep the joining instructions safely.
