An Introduction to Technologies Trials at Portsmouth's Queen Alexandra Hospital with Q&A session.

PTTU provides the skilled staff and infrastructure to develop and deliver clinical research projects for the benefit of patients and the community.

The Portsmouth Technologies Trials Unit works in collaboration with clinical researchers, academics, patients and commercial partners to develop research studies relevant to our community. They specialise in working with commercial partners, including SMEs to develop research trials in new health care technologies, however they have a broad portfolio of studies including observational studies and qualitative research. PTTU works with a range of academic, clinical and healthcare partners including the Research Design Service (RDS) South Central.

Speakers:

Elaine Baddeley, Research Facilitator and Trial Manager (Respiratory)

Elaine is a Research Facilitator who is responsible for the set up and delivery of clinical research studies. She also provides specialist trial management support to the Respiratory Research Team. Before moving to Portsmouth, Elaine worked on delivering various health improvement projects in Guildford and Reading. She is especially interested in medical device studies and holds an MSc in Health Psychology from Aston University.

Dr Alice Mortlock, Head of Research

Alice has worked in Research Management for over fifteen years and has experience working for two major research funders, Cancer research UK and the National Institute for Health Research. She has also managed a diverse portfolio of clinical research projects within the Department of Surgery and Biotechnology at Imperial College London. Alice is currently the R&D Manager at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust and is responsible for the operational management of the Research & Innovation department and the Portsmouth Technologies Trials Unit. Alice has a PhD from Imperial College London and did a post-doc in a spin-out company supported by Imperial Innovations.
