Professor Ale Armellini’s ‘Cases on Active Blended Learning in Higher Education’ includes a number of open access chapters providing insights into ABL teaching practice. It highlights topics such as personalized university courses, remote service learning, team-based learning, universal design for learning, active learning spaces and employability.

 

The book was co-authored with Dr Brenda Cecilia Padilla Rodriguez at Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in Mexico. It contains case studies from Austria, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Spain, the UK, Ukraine and USA, which are particularly relevant to Portsmouth’s blended and connected approach.


Professor Armellini said: “This book provides evidence of the growing interest in both active learning and blended learning across the global higher education sector. It offers a starting point for the wider understanding and implementation of ABL as a pedagogical approach in its many manifestations. I encourage academics and institutions to research, document and share their ABL experiences. I’m grateful to colleagues around the world who contributed to this book, sharing their expertise and insights into an approach to teaching practice that is likely to become more prominent and widespread in the coming years, particularly in post-Covid learning settings.”
