Does your company need to improve processes and procedures in the office or on the shop floor?
On this course we’ll share and explore a range of business improvement techniques, such as the ‘5S Workplace’ and the Japanese business philosophy ‘Kaizen’.
The session will be informal and feature some problem solving activities. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss techniques and your own experiences.
You’ll be able to take this new knowledge back to your own workplace and implement genuine improvements that’ll save you stress, time and money.

A manufacturing engineer by trade, Mike Punt has worked for various engineering companies, such as Smith Industries, City Technology and Sifam Ltd, with the main role of implementing new products, lean manufacturing and reducing costs.
Mike studied at Coventry University from 1990 to 1994. After 10 years in the engineering industry, he moved into the education sector, joining the University of Portsmouth in 2016 with responsibility for launching degree apprenticeships in the Faculty of Technology.
Since 2017, Mike has been the Director of Learning at Work at the University of Portsmouth, with two main responsibilities - to oversee degree apprenticeships across the university and to manage the Learning at Work department, which offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees to employees in the workplace.
