Come and celebrate with us

Back for 2021 to celebrate Research Culture and Communication, and 10 years of the Graduate School.

We’re renowned for our excellent research, and that’s why this year we’re looking forward to celebrating Doctoral Research, research culture and 10 years of our Graduate School. The Doctoral Festival showcases our Doctoral Students, their research, and their achievements.

This year's theme is ‘Research Culture and Communication’. We’re delighted to announce Professor Jim Al-Khalili OBE FRS, theoretical physicist, author and broadcaster, as our Keynote Speaker. Jim opened the Graduate School in 2011, so we’ve invited him back to talk about research culture and research communication.

This year’s festival is completely online and is open to the University of Portsmouth community, including Alumni.

What’s happening at this year’s Festival?

Our 2021 event takes place online on Thursday 8 July from 09.30am-5.30pm. The Festival will include talks, competitions, and panel discussions. The event will be held via Zoom, and you can register as an attendee via Eventbrite. You’re welcome to attend the whole day, or you can drop in and out of sessions throughout the day.

Connect with us on social media on Twitter and use the hashtag #UoPDocFest21.
