Fully-funded Centre for Enzyme Innovation PhD projects

Apply for a funded PhD at our Centre for Enzyme Innovation, and help us find solutions to the existential threat of plastic pollution

Applications are now open for fully-funded PhD projects at our Centre for Enzyme Innovation (CEI) – where we're searching for solutions to the most-urgent environmental problems facing the planet, including plastic pollution.

We were recently awarded £5.8 million in funding by the Research England Expanding Excellence Fund, and coupled with significant investment by the University, we're transforming our knowledge and expertise into action, and delivering transformative enzyme-enabled solutions for the circular recycling of plastics.

We've also won a 2019 Times Higher Education Award for 'Best Research Project (STEM)' for our work on plastic-eating enzymes.

The fully-funded PhD projects listed below are an exciting opportunity for outstanding candidates to make their own contribution to the pioneering work taking place within the CEI, and to work alongside leading academics in the field.
