I have 15 years experience of Apprenticeships in both the FE and HE sectors. I have developed and implemented apprenticeships at levels 2 to 5 in the FE college sector and now at levels 6 and 7 in the university sector. I co wrote the Apprenticeship Startegy docuement for the University and implemented its recommendations, including a new central DA office and new processes and procedures from admisssions, finance, funding, compliance etc.
I have extensive knowledge of apprenticeships, workplace learning and how to support learners while also in full time work.
Since June 2016 I have implemented 3 degree apprenticeships at the University of Portsmouth and have experience of how to approve these apprenticeships, engage with employers, engage with professional bodies and understanding of all the funding rules for apprenticeships.
I have recently set up a central degree apprenticeship office with new job roles based on a strategy paper written detailing the reasons why the university should get involved in apprenticeships. This central office will manage and coordinate apprenticeships across the university.
I also manage the 'Learning at Work; department that delivers degrees and master degrees in the workplace and therefore I have good knowledge on how to engage with individuals and employers to tailor programmes to their support needs.
My qualifications include: BEng (Hons) Manufacturing Systems Engineering, PGCE, Chartered Engineer, Chartered Manager and Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy.
I am a Chartered member of the IET and CMI.
