Find out how to get involved in our alumni community and the exclusive benefits we offer

Our Alumni Association is a global community helping all our former graduates stay connected to the University of Portsmouth, and to each other.

We host events throughout the year, where you’ll get opportunities to continue your learning and professional development throughout your career. We also want the work you do to inspire the next generation of Portsmouth students by volunteering your time and expertise at Open Days, networking events and more.

Please update your details with us so we can keep in touch with you about the opportunities on offer, events and news.

Alumni benefits

Access exclusive alumni benefits available to you as a Portsmouth alumnus below:

If you graduated from the university with an undergraduate degree, you could be entitled to our Alumni Discount for further study. This entitles you to a 20 per cent fee reduction on selected postgraduate courses.

We have a startup incubator, nest, exclusively for Portsmouth students and alumni who graduated within the last 5 years. The team at nest offer expert advice and support, workshops, co-working space, networking opportunities – and a whole host of useful resources – that can help you get an idea off the ground, or take an existing startup to the next level.

Alumni can also benefit from our Entrepreneurs in Residence – a team of experienced entrepreneurs and senior level business executives who are available to develop business ideas and help deal with the challenges of starting a new business.

You’re eligible for up to five years support from our Careers and Employability Service after you graduate. They’ll help you prepare for job roles and provide you with access to over more than 6,000 employers.

Take advantage of St Paul’s Gym and the range of fitness classes on offer. Alumni can sign up for an Associate membership which costs £159 for 12 months or £17.99 per month. On your first visit, you’ll need to take a form of ID and proof of your studies (such as your degree certificate).

In September 2018, we opened our very own eye clinic that offers free eye tests to our alumni. We’re simultaneously training the next generation of eye health professionals, while providing check-ups, prescriptions, glasses and contact lenses.

University of Portsmouth alumni can get one year’s free access to the University Library at any time during the first 12 months after graduation. For example, if you begin your free 12 months in December after graduating, you’ll get access until December the following year.

There are two options for you to access the library as an alumnus. The first is reference only which is free and allows you to enter the library and read the materials there. The second options allows you to borrow up to four items as a member and this costs £50 per year.

You can apply for your external membership here. You'll also need to send a passport-style photograph (jpeg) to library.registration@port.ac.uk with your name. If you do not have a jpeg file, you're welcome to provide the library with a printed passport-style photograph instead.

On your first visit to the library, you'll need to bring a form of ID with your current address on.

If you have any queries, please contact 023 9284 3228 or email library.registration@port.ac.uk.

The University’s Printing Services are available to alumni and students and offer a range of items including flyers, leaflets, posters, framing and more. Contact them via the online store (you’ll need to confirm the course you studied) or telephone 023 9284 3368.
