We have a startup incubator, nest, exclusively for Portsmouth students and alumni who graduated within the last 5 years. The team at nest offer expert advice and support, workshops, co-working space, networking opportunities – and a whole host of useful resources – that can help you get an idea off the ground, or take an existing startup to the next level.
Alumni can also benefit from our Entrepreneurs in Residence – a team of experienced entrepreneurs and senior level business executives who are available to develop business ideas and help deal with the challenges of starting a new business.
You’re eligible for up to five years support from our Careers and Employability Service after you graduate. They’ll help you prepare for job roles and provide you with access to over more than 6,000 employers.
Take advantage of St Paul’s Gym and the range of fitness classes on offer. Alumni can sign up for an Associate membership which costs £165 for 12 months or £18.99 per month. On your first visit, you’ll need to take a form of ID and proof of your studies (such as your degree certificate).
In September 2018, we opened our very own eye clinic that offers free eye tests to our alumni. We’re simultaneously training the next generation of eye health professionals, while providing check-ups, prescriptions, glasses and contact lenses.
University of Portsmouth alumni get free access to the University Library as an external member. External members can borrow up to two books at a time and membership lasts for 12 months, after which you will be invited to renew free of charge. You can apply for an external membership here. You will be asked to email a passport-style photograph (jpeg) to email@example.com with your name.
In order to collect your membership card, you will need to bring photographic ID and confirmation of your address dated within the last three months.
We welcome students from all over the globe, and our alumni community is home to people from over 130 countries including China, Nigeria and the USA. If you’re an international alumnus and you’ve now left the UK, you can still support us and continue to be a part of our university. There are ways you can stay involved and continue to strengthen your connection to the university.
