Researchers from many disciplines have enthusiastically embraced the sustainability agenda but there are many critics who argue that claims of being sustainable are exaggerated. In this presentation, the main proposition is that we need a materiality principle to channel our efforts on key sustainability challenges, i.e. on initiatives that have substantial positive impacts.
