University of Portsmouth – GREAT Scholarships 2026 – Pakistan and Bangladesh
In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, the University of Portsmouth is offering two scholarships to students: one from Pakistan and one from Bangladesh, applying for eligible one-year postgraduate courses in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The GREAT Scholarships 2026 programme, launched by the British Council together with over 60 UK universities, supports postgraduate students from Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Türkiye, and Vietnam in accessing world-class UK higher education opportunities.
The scholarship programme offers financial support of a minimum of £10,000 to students pursuing one-year postgraduate study in the UK. Students can apply for courses in a range of subjects, at over 60 institutions across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
- You must hold an offer for an eligible postgraduate taught course within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, you must have applied as a self-funded student on a full-time, on-campus, course for September 2026 entry.
- You must have achieved a 1st or Upper 2nd class honours undergraduate degree (or equivalent). If you have not completed your undergraduate studies, you must have evidence that you are predicted a 1st or Upper 2nd class honours undergraduate degree classification (or equivalent).
- You must achieve an IELTS score of 7.0 overall with no less than 6.5 in each component or equivalent by the deadline of the scholarship.

- The scholarship is only available for courses taught at the University of Portsmouth campus in Portsmouth, UK.
- The scholarship is only available for students who have never studied in the UK previously.
- The scholarship will take the form of a £10,000 fee reduction, effective at the time of registration and will only apply to your first year of study.
- Applicants for the GREAT Scholarship 2026 must complete the scholarship application form.
- To be considered, you will need to complete the scholarship application form as part of your application by 31st May 2026 (for September 2026 entry).
- The scholarship cannot be combined with any other scholarship, discount or fee offer.
- The discounted fee will be stated on your Confirmation of Acceptance for Study (CAS). This is the final document you receive when you have an unconditional offer to study at the University of Portsmouth and have paid your deposit.
- Only applicants who have been assessed as overseas students for tuition fee purposes can access this scholarship.
