Biography

I joined the University of Portsmouth in October 2001 and currently fulfil the role of Associate Dean (Global Engagement & Education Partnershipsresponsible for overseeing the Faculty’s strategic implementation of the University of Portsmouth Global Engagement Strategy in addition to providing strategic leadership for the Faculty’s UK and international partnerships. I am also a Principal Lecturer in sport psychology in the School of Sport, Health and Exercise Science. Following the completion of my BSc (Hons) Physiology and Sports Science degree at the University of Glasgow, I completed an MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology at the University of Chichester. My PhD thesis (University of Southampton) examined 'The Impact of Butler and Hardy's (1992) Performance Profiling Technique in Sport'. I am a Senior Fellow of Advance HE and a member of the European Association for International Education (EAIE) Professional Development Committee.

Research interests

My research interests span both education and sport areas. My research focuses on examining the psychology of human performance with particular interest in the impact of psychological skills training on sport performance. Furthermore, recent research interests extend to examining the factors that contribute to effective leadership of learning and teaching in higher education.
