My research interests include the areas of capacity building, cross-cultural management, development policy, governance reform, hospitality management, human resource development (HRD), human resource management (HRM), human resource practices, national culture, organisational culture, talent management (TM), and research collaboration. I am very keen on cross-disciplinary research which adopts both qualitative and quantitative research methods. My PhD thesis was on national and organisational cultural impact on talent management’s implementation using mixed-methods. I have also completed research and written several academic papers on additional academic arenas.
I joined the Faculty of Business and Law in September 2016 after having worked for 3 years as a Guest Lecturer, Graduate Teaching Assistant and Academic Field-trips’ Co-ordinator at The University of Manchester. At the same institution, I completed my PhD studies during August 2016 in Development, Policy and Management with a scholarship, and my MSc studies in Human Resource Management (International Development) in 2012 with Distinction. I also hold a BSc in Business Administration awarded by the University of Piraeus in Greece. My global research experience extends to Bangladesh, Brussels, China, Cyprus, France, Ghana, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Greece, The United Kingdom and Turkey. I have also presented and chaired sessions at several international academic conferences and events, such as ‘The Second 21st Century Academic Forum Conference on Teaching, Learning, and Research’ at Harvard University in the United States. Moreover, I have been awarded a Fellowship from the British Higher Education Academy (HEA) along with other qualifications obtained by the Greek government. Finally, I have employment experience in the banking industry and in international companies such as Vodafone, and have held both HR and consultancy positions in both British and leading international companies.
Currently, I have teaching responsibilities in Level 4 to Level 7 academic units, i.e. Business Innovation Development Project (BIDP); Business Research Project (BRP); Employability, Research and Professional Development (ERPC); Human Resource Management (HRM); Managing People in Organisations (MAPIO); Research Skills for the HR Practitioner; and Training Learning and Talent Development. Simultaneously, I coordinate the MSc module HRM. I also supervise dissertations at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. At The University of Manchester I had teaching responsibilities in the Level 7 modules Developmental Practice: International Contexts and Worlds of Action; Human Resource Management: Concepts and Contexts; Human Resource Practice 1 &2; Human Resource Planning and Development; Organisational Behaviour; and Organisational Psychology Management and Change. Finally, I am a reviewer at the annual meetings of The Academy of Management, as well as I act as a reviewer both at international academic journals of high ranking and book publishers.
