Summary

Harriet is a Research Development Officer for the Health and Wellbeing Research Theme. She was previously Project Coordinator (Nov 2016 – Oct 2019) on the EU Interreg VA France (Channel) England PONToon project in the Faculty of Creative & Cultural Industries (CCI) at the University of Portsmouth. This was a €5.8 million project encompassing 11 partners and over 200 stakeholders across Southern UK and Northern France. Harriet successfully led a team of over 70 colleagues, delivering 149 deliverables, creating x6 open source project apps which have now been gifted to the Portsmouth community. After graduating from Auckland University of Technology (NZ) with her Msc in Food Waste, Parr worked on the Interreg Project BRIDGE (Building Research & Innovation Deals for Green Economy) at Brighton University before joining Portsmouth University in 2016

  • PONToon (Partnership Opportunities using New Technologies Fostering Social Inclusion) Project Coordinator – The project’s focus is jobs, social inclusion (urban and rural communities) underpinned by tools and methods from the digital economy (2016 - 2021). 
  • Barrier Solutions Melanoma prevention toolkit. Research Associate (2014) – The research aims to create ‘smart’ textiles combining computer intelligence and digital communication to provide ‘early warning systems’ of over-exposure to the sun.
  • SHAKES (Structural Health Autonomic Kinetics for Earth Shifts) Research Associate (2015) – Textiles, architecture, computing and nanotechnology collaborators have developed an intelligent textile to be embedded into structural systems to sense movement and warn of potential structural failure.
