Biography
I am a Senior Lecturer in Marketing and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I have been teaching at the Faculty of Business and Law since 2010. I was awarded the Postgraduate Choice Award in the Student Union Golden Apple Teaching Awards in 2012. Before joining the University of Portsmouth, I gained professional experience in marketing in the not-for-profit sector.
I completed my BSc Entertainment Technology degree at the University of Portsmouth, where I have also gained my MA Digital Marketing and my PhD in ageing and online consumer behaviour.
Providing real-world teaching experiences is very important to me. As part of the Consumer Insights module, my students have been conducting research to help the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust understand young people’s engagement with nature and their concerns about biodiversity loss. My students have then made recommendations as to how best to engage young people online in such issues.
I have also been working with Lendwithcare, a microfinance charity, helping to conduct a survey of lenders to better understanding their motivations for supporting projects.
