Dr Marianela Barrios Aquino
Biography
Marianela obtained BA in Sociology from the University of Salamanca and a MSc in Social Research Methods from the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Lisbon. She recently completed her PhD in Migration Studies at the Sussex Centre for Migration Research (University of Sussex). Her thesis focused on affective citizenship and the naturalisation experiences of EU migrants in the UK in the context of Brexit. She currently holds a post as Postdoctoral Associate Researcher at the Centre for European and International Studies Research at the University of Portsmouth.
Research interests
Her research interests include critical citizenship studies and decolonial theories in the context of migration research. She is also interested in creative methods and pedagogies.
