I currently work 2 days a week in a business development role for the Faculty of Business of Law, specialising in designing and winning talent management contracts for large organisations.
My research interest is in academic enterprise. Volunteering outside of the University, I am a trustee of Brendoncare Group who innovate in elderly care and am chairman of their Clubs operation. I am also a director of a social enterprise start up. I have supported doctoral students on research projects on performance improvement in organisations.
The first half of my career was in manufacturing, during which time I completed my MBA. Since joining the University of Portsmouth I have been the director of the Centre for Enterprise Research and Innovation from 2005 to 2012 and Director of Business Services for the faculty of Business and Law from 2012 to 2016.
With colleagues I have published 5 peer reviewed academic articles and one book chapter in performance evaluation and improvement. I have an enduring interest in performance improvement and I’m particularly interested in customer service.
My current research is in academic enterprise, in particular how best to help industry use University resources to grow their businesses.
I currently co-design teaching courses with colleagues and industry in leadership and management to meet the needs of organisations. Clients in the recent past have been Hewlett Packard, H.M.Army, Royal Air Force, NHS and Nigerian government.
I am happy to take calls and emails from the media on my expertise in developing university / industry partnerships. I am aware of the needs to respond to journalists in a timely manner. Please contact me directly on either email@example.com or 07764167956
