Tidal Bloom - Hannah Stocker

Concept overview

Tidal Bloom seeks to raise awareness of Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH), a common condition that remains largely overlooked beyond those directly affected and the medical professionals who treat it. The collection explores how DDH shapes everyday movement, recovery, and the evolving relationship between body and clothing.

Design Response to Condition

Informed by personal experience, the garments respond to the physical realities of surgery and healing. Loose silhouettes and soft, adaptive materials accommodate post-operative sensitivity, swelling, and restricted mobility. Considered placement of fastenings and volume minimises pressure on healing skin and surrounding scar areas, acknowledging the limitations of movement during recovery.

Concept Outcome

Tidal Bloom emphasises reassurance, protection, and quiet confidence throughout the often prolonged journey of treatment, offering clothing that supports both physical comfort and emotional resilience.
