Ella Strutt -  this is how loud my brain feels

Project overview

“this is how loud my brain feels” is a deeply personal project that explores Ella’s perception of life on the autism spectrum through the visual language of abstract expressionism. By focusing on the intricate details contained within each bubble, the work reflects the constant tension between control and the loss of it.

Colour, Movement, and Overwhelm

The intense colour variations and strong sense of movement convey the overwhelming nature of everyday experiences, amplified through close, immersive framing. These shifting surfaces echo the sensory intensity of Ella’s world, where even small moments can feel expansive, consuming, or difficult to contain.

Planetary Minds and Wandering

Thought Planetary semiotics suggest the vastness and depth of an endlessly wandering mind, encouraging viewers to pause, look closer, and explore each image in detail. In doing so, the project attempts to simulate the experience of a “loud” brain—one that is chaotic, expansive, and deeply introspective all at once.
