Exploring Hidden Eczema Trigger

The project explores unseen triggers of eczema through monochromatic imagery. Eczema is not just dry or itchy skin — it is a complex condition shaped by everyday environmental factors. Each image focuses on a single trigger, using constructed scenes inspired by still‑life paintings.

A green ceramic vase sits on a round table draped in light green satin, filled with leafy stems. Behind it, green fabric and hanging dried foliage create a monochromatic scene that highlights texture, tone, and natural forms.
A pink bathroom sink is arranged with matching bottles, towels, and a striped shower curtain, creating a monochromatic scene that highlights the artificial softness and uniformity of domestic products.

Identity, Heritage, and Continuity

Inspired by my mixed African-Caribbean background, Kin reflects on the relationship between personal identity and culture. The series honours the beauty, individuality, and ongoing evolution of African cultural expression. Despite the oppression of colonialism, many African cultures have continued to preserve their traditional dress throughout generations.

A still‑life arrangement of common food items sits against a soft fabric backdrop, including eggs, milk, peanuts, shrimp, and flour, presented in a calm, monochromatic scene that highlights their textures and forms.
A brown textured sweater hangs above a neatly folded stack of neutral‑toned clothing, set against a dark backdrop with arranged twigs, creating a warm, monochromatic scene that highlights fabric texture and materiality.

Rethinking Safety in the Home

The work questions the safety of modern materials and domestic routines. What appears soft, clean, or natural may in fact conceal irritation, discomfort, and harm.
