Head of Commercial Law at Biscoes Solicitors

Entrepreneurs in Residence (EiR); Only for use within an EiR context.

I'm honoured and excited to be involved with this initiative, and look forward to exploring new connections between the University and business.

Graeme Quar, Head of Commercial Law at Biscoes Solicitors

Graeme has spent more than 35 years in the legal industry, supporting and advising businesses.

He qualified as a solicitor in 1982, specialising in business and commercial property law. In 1988 he became a partner in a significant Hampshire solicitors firm and rose to become the head of the firm's commercial law department.

In 1994 Graeme founded a bespoke law firm in Fareham, Graeme Quar & Co, specialising in providing legal advice and solutions to business owners. His second branch merged with Biscoes Solicitors in 2016, where Graeme now leads the commercial law team.

Constantly learning, he's completed the Financial Times Non-Executive Directors Master's diploma and the Leadership Challenge with the Growth Institute.

Graeme enjoys sharing his experience and knowledge with current and prospective business owners. He's launched and grown an online training start-up, Grazing with Gazelles, that advises and mentors mid-marketing businesses on growth and scale up. He's welcomed the opportunity to work with the University of Portsmouth and to encourage students, staff and alumni to take the entrepreneurial challenge.

When he's not at work, or mentoring new entrepreneurs, Graeme is the chairman of The YOU Trust which is a not-for-profit organisation that provides services to people with a wide range of social, educational and practical needs. In his personal life he is an extensive trekker and has climbed the eight highest peaks in Africa. He also enjoys fly fishing, Northen Soul music, and is a season ticket holder for Manchester City, having grown up in the city.

Graeme Quar can offer particular expertise in:

  • Buying and selling businesses
  • Franchising businesses
  • Property planning
  • Developing and expanding businesses
  • Networking with professional advisors in Hampshire
