Daisy seated behind the wheel of a Porsche on test track

BA (Hons) Business and Human Resource Management student Daisy Sheppard's life in the fast lane on her placement year

2 minutes

My name is Daisy, and I am one of the Human Resources Interns at Porsche Cars GB Ltd. Once I have completed my placement, I will be returning to the University of Portsmouth to finish my undergraduate degree in Business and Human Resources Management. Some of my key responsibilities include managing the intern recruitment process, organising and working closely with external leadership and development providers, intern payroll and administrative areas such as offers of employment, monitoring the HR inbox, responding to queries from the wider company, as well as getting to help work on a range of projects throughout the year.

When I began my placement search I was able to seek support from the placements office, who helped me with perfecting my CV and Cover Letter. They gave me tips on how to become more employable and getting to sit in on placement workshops, hearing from previous placement students was a very useful insight. This all contributed to the wider success of securing my placement with Porsche Cars GB and I am incredibly grateful for all the support.

My favourite part of the job is how much responsibility and array of opportunity we get as interns. You are far from a stereotypical intern who just grabs the coffee! Interns at Porsche are treated as valued employees. I am able to work closely with my team on day-to-day activities, as well as on special projects which contribute to the wider success of the company.

Working for Porsche is a great opportunity which I cannot recommend enough. I am fortunate enough that I have got the chance to work with some truly talented people in business, whom I have learnt so much from and look forward to continuing my development.

I can’t believe how quickly it’s gone! From my first few weeks getting to go to multiple Porsche Retail Group Centres, helping out with various assessment centres, to experiencing ‘All Staff Get Togethers’ and a ‘Welcome to Porsche’ day, getting to learn more about the company and the history, plus the fact that I have had the chance to drive some amazing cars up at Porsche Experience Centre is pretty cool too!. Also, working collaboratively with the cohort of interns, for the intern charity project, raising money and awareness for our charity partner, Place2be.

I have learnt and been able to experience so much in such a short period of time, I’d like to say a big thank you to my amazing team and everyone at Porsche Cars Great Britain
