A new collaboration between the University of Portsmouth and Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust will develop and deliver clinical research projects for the benefit of patients and the local community.
The Portsmouth Technologies Trial Unit, which will be based at Queen Alexandra Hospital, will support all stages of the research project lifecycle, from developing research questions that are relevant to the NHS and patients, designing clinical investigations and obtaining funding, as well as all aspects of study delivery and dissemination.
We’ve brought together an interdisciplinary team with health-related research and innovation capabilities through our new Health and Wellbeing research theme. The Portsmouth Technologies Trial Unit will provide even more opportunities to grow our collaborative research activities.
The unit will specialise in research studies in new healthcare technologies based on a track record of working with Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). It will also support other types of health research including post-marketing surveillance studies and those using big data.
The Unit will also work in partnership with clinical researchers, academics, industry and the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).
