Scarlett Gapp, a BA (Hons) Fashion and Textile Design student, won first place at Offcut London for her designs.

Offcut London is a catwalk show and outlet for fashion creatives to showcase their talent to an audience of fellow creatives, brands and other industry contacts.

Scarlett entered via Instagram with images of her collection and was shortlisted into the top 85 entries from an original 224. Three from Portsmouth were shortlisted into the final 20, who were showcased on the Not Just A Label website, after which Scarlett won first place.

Rachel Homewood, BA (Hons) Fashion and Textile Design course leader said, “The course team are very proud of Scarlett's success this year and the amazing work she has produced.  Scarlett has worked extremely hard throughout her studies in order to achieve her goals and future ambitions. She has a positive attitude to her studies and wanted to really push new boundaries through repurposing and recycling unwanted sports clothing and equipment. Through her creative talents and hard work Scarlett has produced a fashion collection that is totally innovative and original.”

Scarlett said: “It was really exciting to see everyone all around England to tag their work to this competition - it was one place where a big range was showcased and we could almost come together during this pandemic. I was thrilled to know I had won and am so grateful to everyone that voted as there were so many amazing entries. I am so excited to now work on the prizes and further develop myself for the future.”
