Statement from Professor Graham Galbraith, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Portsmouth
"We are very concerned to hear about the recent escalation in the conflict in Israel and Gaza and the indiscriminate killing of innocent people including children. We acknowledge that this will be very upsetting and distressing, particularly for our students and colleagues with connections to the region. The University will be writing directly to impacted students to advise on the types of support available. Any staff members with concerns should reach out to their line manager for support in the first instance.
"Both the University and the Students Union are working to ensure all members of the University community are supported as much as possible, and we will respond as appropriate as the situation develops.
"As a collective university community, it is important that we remain calm and support each other during this extremely distressing and difficult time."
