Our collaborative, multidisciplinary research in Politics and International Relations explores the most-pressing issues in the field, and works with the organisations, governments and individuals involved to find real solutions to these challenges. 

In our citizenship and civil society research, we're exploring how different aspects of citizenship impact individuals, and how they shape society, politics and policies in local, regional, national and transnational contexts.

Through our security and defence research, we're searching for ways to reduce the impact of war and create safer, more peaceful world. In our politics of states and regions research, we're looking at how to improve people's lives in different regions around the world by better understanding the local, regional, national and transnational dimensions of their nation or region's politics.

Our research in global governance is addressing the complex political challenges of the modern world, by analysing how problems of insecurity, conflict and political exclusion are formed in different regions – and what impacts they make.
