After ten years of service to the University of Portsmouth, Karen Blackett CBE, will be standing down and leaving the post in early 2027. The University is, therefore, seeking nominations from its community for candidates to become the next Chancellor.

Consider carefully why your nominee(s) would be suitable. What connection do they have to the University, or to Portsmouth, or to our vision and values? What difference could they make?

The nomination process closes at 11.45pm on 27 May.
The successful candidate will be announced later in the year.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- To act as a prominent ambassador for the University by championing and promoting its mission, activities, objectives and reputation to key stakeholders and people and organisations of influence locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
- Where availability allows, preside over and confer degrees at graduation ceremonies of the University.
- To assist the Vice-Chancellor and Chair of the Board of Governors in a consultative and advisory role.
- To support fundraising activities both for the University in general and for specific initiatives and projects.
- To use their influence, expertise and networks to further the University's strategic objectives.
- To enhance the University's reputation through their own standing and profile.
