Summary

I am a Senior Teaching Fellow at Portsmouth Law School. Within this role, I teach on core modules at both Level 4 and Level 5 and am a dissertation supervisor at Level 6, where I guide and nurture the research pursuits of our budding legal scholars.

I am the lead Level 4 tutor for Portsmouth Law School, a role that places me at the forefront of our students' academic journeys. In this capacity, I oversee the personal tutoring provision for first-year Undergraduate Law degrees. This entails ensuring that our students receive comprehensive support right from the outset of their university experience. It is a responsibility I hold dear, as it sets the foundation for their academic success and growth throughout their time at the University.

Biography

I first started working at the University of Portsmouth commenced in 2016. Before embarking on my academic career here, I had the privilege of teaching A level law, shaping the legal understanding of aspiring students, and fostering their passion for the subject. My dedication to legal education extended further as I took on the role of an A level Law Examiner, where I assessed the knowledge and skills of future legal minds.

I originally graduated from University with a degree in Law and completed the Legal Practice Course before entering the corporate world, working as an in-house lawyer for a series of high-tech companies. In this capacity, I specialised in contract and commercial law, navigating the complex terrain of legal intricacies that accompany such high-tech enterprises. This practical experience not only enriched my understanding of the law but also allowed me to apply legal principles in real-world contexts, providing valuable insights that I now share with my students.

My diverse background, which encompasses teaching, examination, and legal practice, has enriched my perspective as a legal educator and underscores my commitment to preparing the next generation of legal professionals with both theoretical knowledge and practical acumen.

Teaching responsibilities

In my current role as a Senior Teaching Fellow within the Law School, I have a diverse array of teaching responsibilities. These encompass the delivery of core Law modules, notably the English Legal System, the Law of Torts, and Land Law.

I am a Module Coordinator for the core modules within our LLB Law with Legal Practice degree program, a program that holds CILEX accreditation. These modules include "Planning Your Professional Journey" at Level 4 and "Practical Writing and Professional Skills" at Level 5.

In recent years, I have supervised dissertations that look into various aspects of the English Legal System. These encompass topics such as police powers within the law, the legal intricacies surrounding the defence of consent, and the role of the jury in the modern criminal justice system. Through these engagements, I have had the privilege of guiding students in exploring and comprehending complex legal issues within the realm of the English Legal System.
