Mrs Claire Smith
Biography
Claire is a Teaching Fellow in Policing and is part of the teaching team involved with the Police Constable Entry Routes (PCER). Her main teaching involvement is on the Police constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) but she also teaches alongside other members of the team on the Degree Holder Entry Program (DHEP). As an Ex-Police Officer with Hampshire Constabulary, Claire brings a wealth of operational knowledge to her teaching providing a well-rounded view of the links between operational policing and academia. She is also an active contributor to Blackstone’s Handbook for Policing Students, which is the core text of new Policing Students.
Alongside Policing, Claire has many differing interests in specialist crime areas including delivering courses on the Wildlife Crime Leadership Initiative, a training program that builds leadership abilities among enforcement officers to better counter wildlife trafficking, led by the Wildlife Conservation society.
