Biography

I joined the School as a research assistant and associate lecturer in 2007 and subsequently started a part-time PhD in the area of breast biomechanics. I previously graduated from this University in July 2006, having completed a BSc (Hons) in Sports Science. I then went on to complete an MSc in Sport and Exercise Biomechanics at the University of Chichester (2006-2007). Since 2011 I have held an academic position in and I am a fellow of the Higher Education Authority. I completed my PhD in July 2013, which focused on the breast support implications for female recreational athletes. I am now a Senior Lecturer in biomechanics and the Associate Head (Students) for the School. I am continuing to carry out research and innovation activities as part of the Research Group in Breast Health.

Research interests

My primary research area is breast biomechanics and breast health and my PhD was focused on investigating breast support implications for female recreational athletes. My main research interests are in breast health issues such as breast pain and poor bra fit, functional breast support and the effect of breast support on performance during occupational activities.
