Dr Melike Tunalioglu
Biography
Dr. Melike Nur Tunalioglu is a Senior Teaching Fellow and Course Leader for MSc International Human Resource Management at the University of Portsmouth. She has a strong academic background in strategy, entrepreneurship, and human resource management, with research expertise at the intersection of social inclusion, diversity, and strategy. Her work is interdisciplinary, project-driven, and dedicated to producing research with both rigor and real-world impact.
Melike completed her PhD in Strategy, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship from the University of Southampton’s Business School, where she was awarded the prestigious PhD faculty scholarship. Her doctoral thesis, A Multi-Layered Perspective on Inclusive Academic Entrepreneurship, Diversity, and Social Inclusion: Towards Social Change, passed with no corrections.
Before joining the University of Portsmouth, Melike designed and delivered courses at multiple institutions. She has led and taught modules such as International Business, Strategic Management, Social Entrepreneurship, and Business Strategy. She has also supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students, guiding them through their academic development and dissertation research.
Beyond teaching, Melike has held multiple research roles, contributing to impactful projects on entrepreneurship, diversity, and social change. In 2017, she has worked as a Research Fellow on an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) funded project exploring “Diversity and Academic Entrepreneurship in STEM Disciplines”. In 2020, she worked as a Senior Research Fellow to a project funded by Arts Council England, examining the “Women Leaders South West Programme”. Additionally, in 2021 and 2022, she worked on three policy-oriented research projects: “The impact of Coronavirus on Businesses and Workers”, funded by Public Policy Southampton, “Commercialising University Research and Gender Bias” funded by EPSRC and, “FlyZero Innovation” funded by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. Her research has been presented at international conferences such as the European Academy of Management (EURAM), the British Academy of Management (BAM), and the Academy of Management (AOM).
