Dr Sarah Paquette
Summary
I am a Senior Lecturer in Forensic Psychology at the University of Portsmouth and a member of the International Centre for Research in Forensic Psychology (ICRFP). I obtained an MSc in Criminology in 2010 and a PhD in Psychology in 2018 from the University of Montreal in Canada. I am also an International Researcher for the International Centre of Comparative Criminology (ICCC) and the Philippe-Pinel National Institute of Legal Psychiatry.
My research explores multifaceted aspects of criminal behaviour, focusing particularly on online and offline sexual offending, intimate partner violence, and recidivism. It delves into the temporal and behavioural dimensions of criminal careers, examining risk factors, risk assessment and interventions with offenders, as well as offender profiles. Utilizing diverse methodological approaches, my studies strive to understand cognitive processes, atypical sexuality, and explore the complexities of criminal behaviour to inform better intervention and prevention strategies within the realms of criminology and forensic psychology.
I serve as the Module Coordinator for the Level 6 'Psychology of Offending Behaviour' module within the BSc Forensic Psychology. I supervise research projects at both undergraduate and graduate levels on sexual transgressions and violence, social perceptions of offending behaviours, atypical sexuality, as well as cognitions and behaviours related to the use of pornography.
