Miss Sonia Tomescu-Stachie
Summary
Biography
Hello and nice to meet you! I'm a passionate PhD researcher funded by the South Coast Doctoral Training, based in the Department of Psychology at the University of Portsmouth. Together with my dedicated supervisors, I am diving deep into the fascinating world of online shared reading (oSR) and its profound implications for psychological wellbeing and quality of life (QoL) among individuals affected by gynaecological cancers. This exciting project builds upon my prior interests during my MSc, where I facilitated six transformative sessions of oSR for adults grappling with anxiety and depression.
My academic and professional journey is an ongoing endeavour. Still, I'm proud to have graduated with flying colours—an MSc in Health Psychology with distinction from Portsmouth University and a first-class BSc in Psychology from Nottingham Trent University. Furthermore, I bring a wealth of experience from working in primary and secondary care settings, including a valuable stint as an Honorary Assistant Psychologist at Macmillan Clinical Psychology Service. These experiences have honed my ability to optimise clinical workflows, thrive within multidisciplinary teams (MDTs), participate in face-to-face and online patient assessments and so much more.
In addition to my PhD research, I am excited to share that I am pursuing the path to becoming a Stage 2 Trainee Health Psychologist. This dual journey allows me to delve deeper into the fascinating field of health psychology, gaining practical experience and theoretical expertise that will further enhance my ability to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals facing health challenges. By combining the rigorous demands of a PhD with the hands-on training of a Stage 2 trainee, I am dedicated to developing a well-rounded foundation that will empower me to contribute meaningfully to the field of health psychology!
