Current projects are:
- High resolution biostratigraphical study of the Llandovery and Wenlock Series
- Biotic response to environmental change in the Silurian
I am a Reader in Stratigraphy and teach primarily on the Palaeontology BSc degree course.
My research focuses on the Silurian System, often using graptolites to date major biotic, environmental and tectonic events and also to date hydrocarbon source rocks.
Prior to moving to Portsmouth in 1996, I was at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth where my interest in the Lower Palaeozoic commenced.
- 1996 - Present: Senior Research Fellow and now Reader, School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Portsmouth
- 1989-1996: Postdoctoral Researcher (various Silurian projects), University of Wales, Aberystwyth
