Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer in Engineering Design in the School of Engineering. I obtained my PhD from the University of Wales in 2006. My research involved development of novel CAD/CAM strategies for high-efficiency machining. New approaches were investigated utilising the commercial CAD/CAM products aiming to achieve the required product accuracy and to generate more efficient milling processes with variable cutting conditions.

My previous academic roles involved research in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining, cutting process modelling and optimisation, FEA analysis, Selective Laser Melting (SLM) for Rapid Manufacturing, CAD/CAM. My research interests are in CAD/CAM, process modelling, design freedom, direct manufacturing, design and rapid manufacturing of functional metal parts with value-adding material structures and surfaces, designed and optimised for purpose. I am a member of Manufacturing Engineering and Design Engineering Research Groups.
