I graduated from the University of Oxford in 1985 and completed my PhD at University College London in 1989. After short stints working for the Building Research Establishment and at the University of Exeter, I joined the department in 1991, becoming a Principal Lecturer in 2003. I am the research lead for the ‘Hazards, Risk and Engineering in the Environment’ theme within UPEN (University of Portsmouth Environmental Network). I am also the theme lead for Geoconservation and Heritage Science in the Centre for Applied Geosciences.
