Prior to the ceremony a selection of organ music will be played by Doctor David Price, HonDMus, GMus (TCL), HonFASC (Organist and Master of the Choristers, Portsmouth Cathedral):

Graduates and guests will be asked to stand as the procession enters the auditorium.

Opening of the ceremony

Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Bernadette Topham, opens the ceremony.

The Executive Dean and Professor of History, Professor Anne Louise Murphy, MA, PhD, FHEA, FRHist, addresses graduates and guests.

Academic Registrar confirms the awards

The Academic Registrar, Stephen Wiggins BTh (Hons) MBA, confirms that all candidates presented are duly qualified to graduate.

Conferment of the degrees

The Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Vice-Chancellor congratulates all those who are graduating.

The Institute of Criminal Justice Studies

Doctor Paul Norman,BA(Hons), MA, D.Phil, Pg.Cert, Senior Fellow of HE Academy; Head of the Institute of Criminal Justice Studies, will read the names of successful candidates present

Chancellor’s Speech

The Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Vice-Chancellor introduces a video from the Chancellor, Karen Blackett OBE, addressing graduates and guests.

Closure of the ceremony

The Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Vice-Chancellor will close the ceremony.

Recessional music

Maestoso (from ‘Organ’ Symphony No 3) – Camille Saint-Saens is played by Doctor David Price.

The procession leaves the auditorium

The Mace Bearer enters the stage and leads the Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, from the auditorium followed by the Officers of the University, Guests of the University and Members of Faculty.

Graduates leave the auditorium and guests remain seated until the graduates have left.
