Work on the University's Wiltshire Building, part of the University’s Estate Masterplan, is progressing and is on schedule to be completed over the summer. Once finished, the building will become the new home of the University's Student Services teams.
The project began in August 2025 and involves a full transformation of the former military drill hall. The space is currently being redesigned to create a modern, comfortable and accessible environment that better supports the needs of our student community. This includes new consultation rooms, offices and open areas designed for wellbeing, advice and one-to-one support, and a fresh, modern look that respects the building’s historic character.

Contractors have built an internal bird cage scaffolding structure. The freestanding system means work can safely be carried out to replace the ageing roof of the building.
Once open, the Wiltshire Building will bring a wide range of student-support teams together in one central location – including the MyPort Hub, Student Wellbeing, Student Housing, Student Money and Disability Advice. The Services under one roof will make it easier for students to find the help they need and will provide:
- A single, central hub for all student support
- Modern and welcoming meeting spaces
- A streamlined experience when accessing advice or wellbeing support
- Improved accessibility throughout the building
The project is part of the University’s £250 million Estate Masterplan, which is focused on modernising facilities, improving sustainability and enhancing the overall student experience.
