The first activity is a short welcome talk from the Biochemistry course leader where you will have the opportunity to ask them any questions about the course.

You'll then have the opportunity to visit our laboratories and research facilities and take part in demonstrations or practical activities.

You will receive an outline of the main course structure. This session will include an overview of the dual award for those who are interested in studying for a year in Australia, and an overview of placement opportunities for students who would like to gain NHS or industrial experience.

Student ambassadors will provide a tour of the facilities and academic staff will provide a hands-on activity emphasising the importance of biomedical science in healthcare and research.

You will then break out into groups to experience some real-life experience of the pre-clinical simulated practical activities carried out as part of the teaching and learning on the courses. For example using a periodontal probe on a simulated model to record pocket depths, mix some dental materials and view dental radiographs to see how they support maintaining good oral health and diagnosis of disease.

Student ambassadors will be interacting within all of the activities and there will be opportunities for Q&A sessions with current students studying on the courses and also teaching staff.

We will be looking closely at a patient case study to see how Radiography fits in at every stage of patient care. You will get to participate in a mini lecture to give you a taster of what anatomy & physiology teaching is like, and experience two practical sessions.

These sessions will show you how a patient can be imaged in the X-ray room and how using the anatomage equipment can support the case study findings. We will also have the opportunity to have a chat about the course, including a Q&A with some of our current students.

This Earth Science session will include information of the three pathways: BSc Geology, BEng Engineering Geology and BSc Environmental Geology.

There will be a short introductory talk about the course and a chance to ask questions, followed by hands-on activities led by academic members of staff and current students.

Activities may include getting hands-on with geological specimens, doing experiments in our engineering geology laboratory, touring our state-of-the-art geochemical laboratories, fieldwork outside the building, games and other activities.

Prospective Students and their guests will attend a welcome talk by the Head of School.

They will then be split into groups and those who have applied for Sport Management or Global Sport Management will have a specific course talk and Q&A with staff, as well as an experience session for this subject. Meanwhile, guests will remain with the Head of School and Admissions tutor for a Q&A session, followed by a building tour to see the experiences being undertaken.

Finally, groups will come together for an informal Q&A .

You will then undertake a hands-on activity looking at fossil specimens in the lab and on the scanning electron microscope, supported by course team members and student ambassadors.

During the Open Experience Day, MPharm students will be facilitating teaching sessions that we deliver throughout the course and this will include physical assessment skills, public health & measuring of QRisk, and the interpretation of drug interactions.
